Myofascial Dry Needling

Myofascial Dry Needling (or MDN) is primarily focused on musculoskeletal injuries and the relief of chronic pain syndromes such as Fibromyalgia and back pain. It uses fine needles which can be inserted into both muscle, tendon and ligaments, and can be used as a stand alone treatment or easily incorporated into a Remedial soft tissue session. Needles will commonly be left in place for 10 to 20 minutes and when used in the muscle trigger points can produce a deep and long lasting release, they are particularly useful to reach anatomical areas that are difficult to palpate with hands.

When used on tendons and ligaments, they can help release tight areas of connective tissue and promote the bodies inflammatory response mechanism, which assists ligaments and tendons that are poorly supplied by blood to heal.

MDN Therapy is adapted from and uses Acupuncture needles; but is not Acupuncture. The paradigms that underpin myofascial dry needling and acupuncture are completely different. The acupuncture paradigm is based on thousands of years of clinical observation and involves a systemic approach to the diagnosis and treatment of disharmonies within the body.
